Faves round-up 7/14…

It’s Saturday and it feels so good!! Currently still in my PJ’s sipping a matcha latte browsing some online sales! The day is off to a great start… I’ve rounded up this week IG faves for you.

This Hermes perfume is my favorite. I got it for Christmas and constantly get compliments when I wear it.  It has a subtle tuberose scent which is clean and floral. It lasts allllllll day! It also helps that the bottle is beautiful and looks great on my dresser to display!

Okay, I am the first to say I don’t really drink coffee. I am sensitive to the caffeine so I am typically a tea girl, but I love the taste of coffee. Go figure. We got a Nespresso machine a while back because Josh was doing two a day Starbucks runs and I freaked. LOL. One day while at the Nespresso Cafe in Bloomingdale’s I tried their decaf and was hooked. I like to have a cup on the weekends and will have either the decaf espresso or coffee. OUr machine is an older version but I found a similar one that features both coffee and espresso pods on sale for an incredible price here. We have the milk frother and I use it all the time. It’s fun to make lattes and fancy cups right from home. The best part each cup costs only $1.10!!

The picture does not do this yummy meal justice. I’ll admit I really need to work on my food photography, but man was this Stuffed Eggplant Parm phenomenal. Even Josh agreed! I love traditional eggplant parm, but with the breading and frying those calories add up. That’s why I’m so happy Skinny Taste featured this recipe! I used traditional eggplant and spicy chicken sausage from whole foods and it was great. Don’t forget to puncture the eggplant otherwise it will get watery, I made this mistake. Whoops!

This awesome knot front dress was featured this week on the blog and I wanted to share a roundup of some more of my fave quick summer dresses I found.

Here are some links all under $50!

IG Favorites roundup…

Hey friends,

I am working on bringing back Friday favorites post. I’ll try and get better at actually getting them up on a Friday! I’ve posted a couple pics of some of my favorite things on Instagram all week and will add them all to this post with links on where to buy. I think this will be a fun way of showing more content throughout the week instead of waiting for each blog post. Let me know what you think?!?!?

Smith and Cult polish  This was introduced to me by a blogger I have been following and loving, Visions of Vogue. She does a phenomenal job at bringing safer beauty products (along with fashion and travel). I have been working hard to slowly cut out the chemical in the house and have not realized how bad nail polish is. I try and bring my own polish to the salon with me when I go, cause I’ve learned the polish is one of the most germ containing thing in the salon!! Yikes!! I never thought about all the chemicals in polish. Smith and Cult are 9free which means it’s Dibutyl phthalate-free; toluene-free; formaldehyde-free; formaldehyde resin-free; camphor-free; ethyl tosylamide-free; xylene-free; triphenyl phosphate-free! It’s the winner of Allure magazine’s ‘Best of Beauty’ award for Best Sheer Neutral Nail Polish shade Ghost and made in the USA! I ordered mine from Nordstrom and have become addicted. It’s a beautiful bottle and great to display. My polish lasted one week chip free!

I cannot rave enough about these Steven by Steve Madden Grady sandals.  I scored them at DSW which is having a 20% off sale until 7/10 with code YAYDAYS!! Plus a free tote with purchase too! Code YAYTOTES!! I just ordered another color too. They are similar to the Steven by Steve Madden greece slides that go for $90. Great thing is this pair is affordable for under $50!!

This fun American Flag One Piece is from Target and under $40!! It runs small so order a size up… it’s cheeky but perfect for summer parties and BBQ’s! I also scored these cute Sugarfix earrings for only $12.99. They are a bit heavier and take some getting used to if you’re not used to wearing heavier dangle earrings.

Uncle Vals Gin! I am a gin lover and share this love with my sis in law. She and I both share a love for “salad” type cocktails! Uncle Vals is a botanical gin that is so smooth its dangerous. You can get it a Total Wine. This fun summer cocktail i created is easy to amke and delish!

  1. muddle 3-4 whole strawberries
  2. add an ounce of fresh lemon juice
  3. 2 tbs of simple syrup (or agave nectar)
  4. 2 oz of gin
  5. shake with ice, strain and serve garnished with a strawberry. I sometimes add a splash of prosecco for some yummy bubbles!!

Thats this weeks roundup… working on some more fun favorites for you next week!

Friday Favorites… Final of 2017

Happy Friday!!!

I can’t believe its the last Friday of the year, 2017 is over people! I always Take time to reflect on my year and think of all the amazing things that have happened. This was one heck of a year and I am thankful for its ups and its downs. This year I turned 30, started this blog, got engaged, my bff had her baby nugget, celebrated all the amazing people in my life and faced some challenges. All of which help me grow and give me a reason to look forward to 2018. Let me tell you… 2018 is gonna be a year to never forget!! Here’s some favorites I’m still crushing on and have been for a while.

BlankNYC jacket (link)

*This denim jacket is everything. Yes, it’s a splurge, but it’s worth every penny. I love it. It goes with everything and is a fun staple piece. Trust me it’s an item people won’t forget when they see it on.

bar set

whiskey set (link)

* I have loved decorating and re-decorating our bar cart. Its a focal point in our house and I particularly love incorporating fun glass pieces like this whiskey set. It’s on sale right now from Nordstrom and you have to grab it. There’s something about happy hours at home with Josh that I’ve grown to love, but of course can’t use some *regular* glass…. I want it to feel special so we use sets like these. I find some great stuff for the bar cart at Homegoods too!

Beverage Dispenser (link)

*A beverage dispenser was on my list for a while so I was happy when we finally got some. A favorite for us to use it is to infuse different alcohols for holiday parties. Our family loves Jameson infused with bananas. Trust me it makes the whiskey taste like bananas foster dissert. It’s so good you can’t even tell your drinking alcohol (its dangerous, drink responsibly)! It’s fun to come up with different creations and share with family and friends. Has definitely been a great hosting gift too!

water bottle

glass water bottle (link)

*Let me start by saying this year has been my year to eliminate plastic from my life. I’m still working on it, but the one thing I have been strict with is my water bottles. I only use glass bottles, and this one on sale from Nordstrom is great! I love the round top and think it looks fancy. I don’t know why but I have a thing for fancy drink ware.

Not Your Mother’s blonde shampoo (link)

*This shampoo smells amazing and works great. Its budget friendly for under $9 and is the best! I use it to help maintain my blonde highlights. I had never heard of purple shampoo until this year and then once I started using it I found the topic came up a lot amongst my friends. Now, I have every HOOKED! I get mine from Target, but it’s available at a lot of places.

Dior Lip Glow (link)

*Okay, My Aunt Anne introduces me and my sister in law to this lip stick and I cannot explain to you how obsessed with it I am. It adds moisture with a very subtle bit of color to your lips and it is worth every cent! Yes it’s a splurge, but I have seen a big difference in my lips since I’ve been using it. I apply it every day… multiple times a day and have noticed how much better my lips have gotten. They are not fry and never have that chapped look. It’s available at all department stores, I linked mine from Nordstrom where I typically purchase it.

cook book (link)

*This skinny taste cookbook has been a go to for me all year. I really took the initiative to cook a minimum of 3 nights a week. I am extremely fortunate that my mother in law cooks family dinner every Wednesday and Sunday so that leaves just a couple nights that I need to prepare for. If you are ever lucky enough to have a mother in law like mine (seriously a saint) make sure she knows it! I often search skinny taste recipes online (there are a ton for free plus she links the weekly meal planner). There’s lots of options offered and her site is user friendly. I like the cook book too because it has healthier recipes not featured on her site and sometimes I just want an actual book.  http://www.skinnytaste.com

I would love to hear about some of your favorite things from 2017! Make sure to subscribe to my site by clicking follow below and entering your email so we can make sure to stay connected in 2018!

Friday Favorites 12.22

Hey Friday!

Man, it’s been a couple weeks since I posted a favorites post. This week I wanted to share a bit of everything: food, fashion, TV, and gift ides.

*Lets start with recipes. For those of you that have Publix, have you tried their Apron meals? My sister in law is always sending me ones she’s tried and the family has loved. They are easy ways to make something quick for dinner. She recently shared the Kalamata Chicken with Orzo. Seriously, try it!!! I have been using the slow cooker as much as possible and I am so thankful for the time saver it’s been!

apron meal

Here’s the link for the recipe!

*Another favorite of mine are these Spanx faux leather leggings – in Motto Style. They are amazing. They can be worn in many different ways and are great for holiday time. Dress them up with some heels or over the knee boots, keep it  casual with a sweatshirt and some Adidas (like I did here). They can make anyone look good… Super flattering (even for the girls with no bootie)! I’m considering getting them in other colors. I was lucky and snagged mine during the anniversary sale. They’re available at lilac and lilies boutique , Nordstrom, and Amazon. Yes, they are a splurge but just like Lululemon, they’re worth it.

*Has everyone watched Stranger Things on Netflix? Josh and I recently started and are on episode 4- I’m hooked. It’s like a mix of ET, the goonies, and growing pains. I know that sounds crazy, but I have no doubt you’ll love it. Completely worth the Netflix subscription. There are only 2 seasons so with the break with holidays plenty of time to get caught up. C’mon Christmas Netflix binge- Yes. We will need a break from Home Alone and Stranger Things will be the rescue!

*Holiday Cocktail! I always like to make a *sepia* drink each holiday. This year I plan on trying a new sangria. My mother in law make the BEST red sangria so in keeping with the theme, I thought lets add a delicious white to have this year.

Thanks Pinterest for this amazing white sangria! Cant wait to have this for Christmas 🙂

Let’s talk gift guide!

For her… diffuser , candle, scarf, perfume, hat

For him… back pack,  slipperscologne, headphones, men’s valet

It’s funny how as we get older the Holiday’s don’t have as much excitement to them. Maybe it’s because the responsibility of everything makes it feel like a bigger chore. I know for me I always get a bot anxious, missing those that aren’t with us and stressing about what to get everyone. This year I decided not to stress. I’m going to focus on all I have to be thankful for and enjoy the time with family. I am fortunate enough to have the best family (friend family- I thin I used that right) and amazing parent’s in law (soon to be official!) to spend Christmas day with, and for that I am eternally grateful!

Cheers to the Holidays and making this year even better then the last!

Friday Favorites 10.20

Happy Friyay!

Josh and I have a ton of home projects to tackle this weekend, and I plan to get all the fall decorations up! Got some of my favorites for you this week.

  1. Jumpsuits: I shared how much I love rompers, especially for summer, but during fall a jumpsuit is perfect. This one is from Lilac and Lilies. It is perfect for that Florida weather and would look great with a denim jacket for a cooler day/night.

2. Banza chickpea pasta: Okay! I just had this last night for the first time and I’m obsessed. Healthier pasta? God has answered my prayers! The flavor is rich and hearty but the consistencies is exactly like pasta. I like mine a bit more al dente so I only cooked it for 7 minutes. I used this particular rotini for a vegetable pasta sauce with mushrooms, onions, zucchini, and eggplant- even Josh loved it! I grabbed mine from Target, but I’ve seen it at other stores. Try it out and let me know what you think.

3. Trader Joe’s pumpkin ginger ice-cream cones! Holy wow they are amazing!!!! I’m a sweets girl and have to have dessert every night (sorry not sorry) and these are great. They’re mini bite size, under 100 calories, and are just enough to satisfy my cravings. I will be devastated when pumpkin season is over and these are gone.

4. Will and Grace is back! I watched this faithfully when it originally aired and always caught re-runs in college. Its back and comes on every Thursday at 9 pm, NBC. I am so happy its back. I record them so I have a short funny show to watch when I am doing something or have an extra 30 minutes to chill. They’re also streaming all the past seasons online through NBC link. What girl doesn’t want the perfect gay best friend and bitchy drunken co-worker that’s hilarious?! Sign me up!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Friday Favorites 10.6

It’s that time of the week and man do I wish I could fast forward a couple hours today!! Josh and I leave for our trip in the am and my excitement is through the roof!!!! I cannot wait to share with you all about our Napa and San Fran trip.

This week I picked some great items to share.

  1. The Giving Keys: This is a jewelry company that I first learned about with my lil sis (she’s great for nonprofit fun info 😉 thanks Jada). Their motto is to “dream, create, and inspire.” It’s an LA based company that has created jewelry including these awesome necklaces. Their mission is “Through our social impact
employment model, every product you purchase supports job
creation for people transitioning out of homelessness.” And that’s exactly what they’re doing. Homelessness is an epidemic in our country and one that most people blame on substance abuse, well that’s not all its about. Its about mental health and peoples need for support not disgust! Its a project I am passionate about and wanted to share with you all. They have some great pieces t reasonable prices from $15-$50. These necklaces along with other items are stocked up at lilac and lilies boutique. Check ’em out… they’re also sold in many stores and online.

2. Velvet Heart: This is my recent favorite. I love a cute causal look for weekends, running errands, going to a game, grabbing lunch with friends, and keeping it cool. These Velvet Heart shirts are super comfy and help keep your casual look from getting a sloppy vibe. You can be casual and still look cute! Throw on with your favorite pair of jeans (these are BlankNYC), some sneakers, and a hat and you are good to go. This is basically my uniform when I don’t have meetings or work. All of this is found at lilac and lilies boutique.

3. Okay, this is a much different favorite item than I usually post each week, but I figured what the heck! John Gottman is the guru of relationships. No I am not married, yes I have had my share of long relationships, yes Josh thinks I’m crazy when I preach about communication (but he loves it), and yes I practice this with my mental health clients all the time. The 7 Principles For Making Marriage Work is a great read for any of us in that long term relationship. Let me be honest… marriage and relationships are work, but if you can work the right way it will make life together better! Give it a read and let me know your thoughts.

4. The Cosmopolitan: After reading that book you’ll need one of these! HaHaHa! A Cosmo was my go to drink for a while, yes Sex and The City was to blame, but as a former bartender I can tell you its an easy and wonderful martini. Until recently I have always made it that same way. While at dinner for Josh’s Mom’s birthday I had the BEST Cosmo I had in a long time. The bartender and I got to talking and hers the trick- NO LIME JUICE. I was shocked, how can you have a Cosmo with no lime juice. Instead he adds a very small bit of fresh lemon juice and twists the lemon rind into the drink so the essential oils are at the top of each sip. Simply fantastic! Its 1 and 1/5 ounces of vodka, 1/4 ounce lemon juice, 1/4 ounce triple sec, and 1/4 ounce cranberry juice. Shake it till its super chilled and you won’t be disappointed!

5. Friday Faves wouldn’t be the same without my weekly show suggestion. This time I’m suggesting a dramatic thriller that will make you think. This is not a light hearted one. Mr. Robot is a USA show that is about to air its 3rd season. Catch up now so you can tune in. Its about a “computer programmer working for a cyber-security firm is recruited by a shadowy organization dedicated to the destruction of corporate America.” It starts October 10th and 10 PM.

I hope you guys enjoyed my picks this week. Let me know what you want to see more of- food, fashion, beauty, cocktails, shows, etc.

Have the best weekend!

Friday Favorites 9.29

FRIYAY!! Hey guys! I’m looking forward to this weekend and excited to share this weeks faves with you. October is around the corner and we are getting ready for a fun vacation (yes there will be lots of posts and details on the blog once we get back). I’m in full “fall” mode… pumpkins, transitional clothes (even though its 90 degrees here in FL and who are we kidding we’re lucky if it will ever get below 80), and planning for holidays/fall fun!

The first fave I wanted to share with you is my denim jacket obsession. Denim jackets are great for adding to our summer outfit and making it more fall and a great layering piece. This is what I’ve learned, you can’t go cheap when it comes to this staple piece. I don’t mean you have to spend a fortune, but most likely it will run $100+ for a great denim jacket. Trust me it will last forever. This amazing BlankNYC denim is from Lilac and Lilies boutique. The studded detail, distressed look is perfect for any look.

Another favorite of mine and a Pinterest find are these mason jar salads. They’re my go to for meal prepping for Josh and I during the week. They are easy to grab and go and taste delicious. You can make any kind! The one below I brought to my besties for a day of playing with her newborn. She’s a busy mama so these mason jar salads are great. This one is quinoa, romaine lettuce, cabbage slaw mix, broccolini, hard boiled eggs, and sunflower seeds. I like to bring my avocado separate and cut it when I’m ready to eat so it stays fresh. I’ll share some more mason jar salad recipes on the blog or IG soon!

This granola is a must! I go through bags of it. I eat it alone as a snack, mixed in with plain yogurt, or on top of ice-cream for a treat. Its crunchy and has a great almond butter taste so no need to add PB2 or peanut butter when using it.

TJ granola

You all know I try and bring a new show in my faves weekly post and I got a HILARIOUS one for you. It presents as a reality show and is very real life, but its not. Its an FX original serious called, Better Things. Its about a mom who is an actress raising 3 very unique girls all on her own. Its only 30 minutes and is a funny quick watch. Even Josh loves it. Its only on season 2 and comes on every Thursday night!

I’d love to hear some of your favorites. Share some secrets… find anything good on Pinterest, have an awesome snack you can’t get enough of, a good sale, a fun vacation spot- share the wealth!

Friday Favorites 9.22

TGIF!! Does anyone else feel like this week was crazy?! For us here in Florida, most of us were just getting back to work, getting power back, and getting in that groove. I’m excited to share some more of my faves with you all. Check ’em out!

1.Rebecca Minkoff small love crossbody: Rebecca Minkoff has been a favorite designer of my for a while. I think her price points are very reasonable and she offers bags with a range of style. This crossbody known as the “small love” is a go to favorite. At under $200 and lots of different color options its a must. I chose the gray with gunmetal accents and I find it goes with everything. You can dress it up like I did in this night look, or keep it casual as an everyday bag. Even though this is the smaller size I find it fits everything I need. Nordstrom carries a great selection and remember, they offer free hipping!!

2.Anthropoligie rancher hat: If you have been following my blog for a while you’ve come to realize my obsession with HATS is no joke! My friends are surprised if I show up someplace and I’m not wearing a hat. Josh’s parents have the best taste in picking hats for me and find some beautiful ones at Anthropoligie, like this one below (This exact hat is from Christmas last year but I linked a similar one for you. Click the prior link.) Now, you might look at the price and think $60-80 for a hat is crazy, but think of it this way. You can get an affordable outfit from Target for under $40 and then add a more expensive staple piece like this hat and it becomes a more expensive- polished look. untitled-2879

3. Amazon Floral Kimono: I can’t express how much I feel kimono’s are a staple in every girls closet! This kimono is my latest favorite because it’s transitional from summer to fall and its under $10 (plus free shipping for Prime members). I scored this piece on Amazon and have worn it a number of ways since. For the look below I kept it causal with jean shorts and a tied up tank (from Target). It’s one of many kimono’s I have and will continue to show on the blog. Stray tuned for my “kimono overload” post!

4.Happy Yummies Gummies: Okay people, these are out of this world!! I scored my first bag from  Marshall’s before the hurricane and they were gone immediately. The whole family couldn’t believe how awesome they were. They are the softest gummies I have every had and the flavor is delicious! Then I found another bag at Homegoods and was pumped. I found them on Amazon for you all and linked them in the title (as each item is linked). Guys, if you love gummies you will love these, trust me! gummies

5. American Housewife: I was introduced to this show by my former co-workers and became addicted. It’s hilarious and you don’t have to be a mom or a housewife to think so. It’s an ABC show and the new season premiers Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 9:30 pm. It’s a light-hearted 30 minute show that will have you laughing and binge watching through the seasons. Most seasons are on demand so plenty of opportunities to catch up.

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend. Let me know some of your favorite things that you’re watching, wearing, eating or loving!

Friday Favorites 9.1

Hey Guys,

Friday Favorites is going down… lots of goodies below.

1. Loft Satin Joggers : I have been obsessing over joggers and comfy pants lately. These are great because you can dress them up for work, but also keep a relaxed look as I did below. I featured this pair because they are still in stock and on sale from Loft.  Check out my previous post, Loft Loves Double Dose for a more detailed look at this outfit!

2. Fresh Flowers:  I have been keeping fresh flowers in the house all summer long and I don’t intend on stopping anytime soon. Having fresh blooms in the house always makes me feel happy. Even if things aren’t the tidiest, looking at beautiful flowers helps make my house feel more like a home! These are a beautiful bouquet Josh brought home for our anniversary and man have they really bloomed! I love them. I typically get flowers each week when I head to Trader Joe’s for my weekly shopping trip. They have a great selection and you can’t beat the price. Reason number 1 billion why I love TJ’s!

3. Oreo Thins: WARNING… these are addicting. I was gonna get a cute shot of me opening them to include, but then I realized I’ve almost eaten the whole box. Nabisco,  you’ve really outdone yourselves with these. They are lighter than a regular oreo and in my opinion pack more flavor. I think next time I’ll portion them out in snack bags to help control myself. I grabbed these at our local grocery store, but I’ve seen them at Target also.

4. Game of Thrones:  I know, I know. Everyone is sick and tired of hearing about GOT. This HBO series has people all stirred up, including me! Josh and I finallllly finished the season finale last night and it did not disappoint. I was at the edge of my seat every minute. For those of you that have never watched, give it a try. Start with the first season and pay attention. Character building grows throughout each season. I don’t want to give anything away, but this fantasy series will have you dreaming of this mythical story (honestly I have had dragon dreams, lol).

Hope you enjoyed this weeks round up! Have an amazing holiday weekend and enjoy your time off. I’ll be heading to Sarasota to spend time with my family. My IG and Facebook feed will be flooded with pics of my beautiful nieces.

Friday Favorites 8.25

Woohoo! Another successful week. It was a busy week around here! Hope you all have some rest, relaxation, and fun planned for your weekend! I’ve rounded up some goodies for you for this Friday Favorites post… check ’em out.

1. Trader Joe’s  Coconut Oil Spray: Let me start by saying I was never a fan of Pam and oil sprays. This one is completely different. It doesn’t have that toxic odor when sprayed, it is lighter and made of 100% coconut oil (so less fattening), and it works the same if not better. I’ve had friends ask me if it adds a coconut taste to the food and I haven’t noticed it. If you ask Josh he’d say yes, but only cause he’s a skeptic of any healthy alternative I try to implement. 😉 I’m sure you can find a coconut oil spray of other brands at your local grocery store if you don’t have a TJ’s close by. I drive about 20 mins to my TJ’s weekly cause I can’t beat the quality and prices.

2. A Local Adventure: So I started trying to go to a new place that offers something awesome right here in our community. When my bro and sis were visiting I knew I had to take them to Wynwood Walls in Miami. My sister Jada was able to capture some great shots. Best part… the whole day was free! We explored outdoor art and warehouse galleries. It was amazing. Wynwood features artist from all over the world and changes every couple of months so it’s worth going back to. What do you have in your community that you can explore? Stay tuned for a full post featuring everything we did while in Miami!!

3. Frosé: This is a summer favorite drink. I know summer is coming to an end but there’s still time people and if you haven’t tried this its a must! I had this one at Tap 42 in Boca Raton (they also have a location in Ft. Lauderdale) with friends on Saturday and it was a good one. Sometimes Frosé can be too sweet, but this was perfect. I’ve also made some homemade versions. Cosmopolitan Mag has some great DIY recipes (click the link to explore). I will share more recipes as I find some and try out some good ones… looking for a watermelon version as we speak!

4. Ray Donovan: Ok keeping up with tradition my weekly weakness TV show has been Ray Donovan on Showtime. It’s back and better than ever this season. It airs Sunday nights at 9 and they’re currently running season 5. This is a suspenseful thriller that will have you shaking your head in disbelief, but coming back for more. Josh and I can binge 5 episodes in one day! Warning, this is not child appropriate so for the families put the kiddos to bed then tune in. Let me know what you think if you start to watch or already do watch!

Hope you enjoyed this week’s post!
